MD Gacha Machine scheduled retirement & what will come next
As most of you know by now Linden Lab changed their policy regarding gachas, forbidding any chance-based outcome as a result of a payment; if you want to read more about this here is the link to the Linden Lab official post.
From my side, in order to fully follow this policy change, I will be retiring every version of my MD Gacha Machine.
The retirement is scheduled and divided into two main phases:
- August 31st 2021, 23:59:59: every version of MD Gacha Machine (script, mesh, mesh #2) will be retired from sale from both MD Labs in-world store and SL Marketplace. All the existing machines will keep working as usual even after this stage.
- September 30th 2021, 23:59:59: every existing machine running MD Gacha Machine script will stop working and not process transactions anymore; this means:
- no new machines will be stored on the MD Labs server;
- every pull made on every machine will be cancelled and the payer avatar refunded;
It is important to note that during the period of the retirement and even after the second step is completed the MD Gacha Machine website will still be fully accessible for you to review your data, manage and export it; however, once the second step of retirement will be completed no new data will be stored and therefore shown on the website.
I know this new policy will imply a big change for many of you and I want to let you all know that I have started working on a new product to replace the gacha machine, inheriting part of the mechanics and logic from it but making sure it will be one hundred percent compliant to the new Linden Lab guidelines and policy. I am still in early development stage so I am not able to share any more info for now – nor give you all a release date – but I promise it will be as soon as possible and that once the new product will be ready it will be announced on every MD Labs channel.
As last thing I would love to thank all the amazing people who supported the MD Gacha Machine products line over the years, suggesting me new features, helping me fixing all the bugs and taking the time to leave a review on the SL Marketplace page: thank you thank you thank you for always giving me a reason to improve and do better.
For any question about the retirement don’t hesitate to contact me in-world or through the MD Labs discord server.
